We do not sell personal information.
5. Our Lawful Bases
We rely on one or more lawful bases when processing personal information.
Contract
We use information where necessary to take steps before entering into a contract or to provide tutoring services that have been purchased or requested.
Legal obligation
We use information where necessary to meet applicable legal obligations, including tax, accounting and other regulatory responsibilities.
Legitimate interests
We may use information where reasonably necessary to operate and protect the business, provide and improve our services, support students, manage tutors, prevent misuse, maintain appropriate safeguarding arrangements and handle complaints.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider whether those interests are outweighed by the rights and interests of the person concerned. We take particular care where information relates to a child.
Consent
We may rely on consent where appropriate, including for certain optional marketing communications, non-essential cookies or information voluntarily supplied for particular purposes.
Consent may be withdrawn at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn.
Where special-category personal information is involved, an additional legal condition for processing will also be identified where required.
6. Children's Information
Our tutoring services are mainly arranged and purchased by parents or guardians.
We only collect information about a child that is reasonably necessary to assess their educational needs, match them with a suitable tutor, deliver tuition, assess and monitor progress, communicate appropriately and protect their welfare.
Children have data-protection rights in relation to their own personal information.
Where appropriate, we will explain how a child's information is used in language suitable for their age and understanding and take the child's interests into account when making decisions about their information.
Parents and guardians should avoid providing unnecessary or excessively detailed medical, health or other sensitive information through general enquiry forms.
7. Sensitive Information
Information concerning health or disability may constitute special-category personal data under UK data-protection law.
Where a parent, guardian or student voluntarily provides health, disability or other special-category information so that we can adapt tuition or provide appropriate learning support, we will identify an appropriate lawful basis and special-category condition.
Where we rely on explicit consent, that consent will be specific and may be withdrawn.
We will collect only information reasonably necessary to support the student and will normally share it only with tutors or others who reasonably need the information for that purpose.
Safeguarding information is treated separately.
Where necessary to protect a child or individual at risk, we may process or share personal information, including relevant special-category information, without consent where permitted by law.
Safeguarding information is stored separately from ordinary lesson notes and assessment records, with access appropriately restricted.

We share only the information reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.
9. International Data Transfers
Some of our technology providers may store or process personal information outside the United Kingdom.
Where personal information is transferred internationally, we will take reasonable steps to ensure an appropriate legal safeguard is in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections.

People may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by using an unsubscribe link or contacting us.
Service messages concerning bookings, payments, lessons, safeguarding, assessments or account administration are not promotional communications and may still be sent where necessary to provide the service.
13. Cookies
Our website uses essential cookies required for functions such as security, bookings, accounts, subscriptions and payments.
With permission, the website may also use analytics, functionality or marketing cookies.
Visitors can manage non-essential cookie choices through the website's cookie banner or cookie settings.

-
ask us to delete information;

ask us to restrict how information is used;

object to certain processing;
-
receive or transfer certain information in a portable format; and
-
withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
These rights are not absolute and may depend on the circumstances and the lawful basis on which information is being processed.
Children also have data-protection rights in relation to their own personal information. Where a request concerns a child's information, we will consider the child's age, understanding, circumstances and best interests when determining how the request should be handled.
To make a request, contact hello@mathsteacher.co.uk.
We may ask for information reasonably necessary to confirm identity and protect the student or other individuals whose information may be involved.
15. Safeguarding Information
Safeguarding concerns are handled in accordance with our Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy.
Safeguarding information is not routinely included in lesson notes, assessment trackers or parent progress reports.
Where information needs to be shared to protect a child, we may share relevant information with appropriate safeguarding professionals, children's social care, police, emergency services or other relevant authorities where necessary and lawful.
Safeguarding concerns relating to tuition provided through MathsTeacher.co.uk should be sent to:
safeguarding@mathsteacher.co.uk
If a child is in immediate danger, the appropriate emergency services should be contacted rather than waiting for a response from MathsTeacher.co.uk.
