Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 30 July 2026
These Terms and Conditions apply to the use of MathsTeacher.co.uk and the purchase of tutoring services through the website.
1. About Us
MathsTeacher.co.uk is operated by:
Thomas Blown trading as MathsTeacher.co.uk
Email: hello@mathsteacher.co.uk
In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to MathsTeacher.co.uk. “Customer” means the person purchasing or arranging tuition. “Student” means the person receiving tuition.
2. Our Services
We provide one-to-one online maths tutoring delivered by qualified maths teachers.
We review information supplied through the Find My Tutor form and aim to match each student with a suitable teacher based on their needs, goals and availability.
Submitting an enquiry does not guarantee that a tutor or particular lesson time will be available.
3. Booking and Contract Formation
A contract for tuition is formed when:
-
the customer completes the booking process;
-
payment has been accepted; and
-
the booking is confirmed by MathsTeacher.co.uk.
The customer must provide accurate and complete information when submitting an enquiry, creating an account or booking tuition.
The person making a booking must be at least 18 years old and authorised to arrange tuition for the student.
4. Prices and Payment
Current prices are displayed on the website before purchase.
Unless stated otherwise, payment is required in advance through the payment methods available at checkout.
Our services currently include:
-
a £65 single 60-minute tutoring session; and
-
a £240 monthly plan providing four 60-minute sessions.
The specific payment, renewal, cancellation and session-usage conditions for each service are displayed during checkout and form part of the contract.
5. Monthly Plans
The four-session plan renews automatically each month until cancelled.
The recurring price, billing frequency and cancellation arrangements will be shown before purchase. Customers may cancel future renewals before their next billing date through their account or by contacting us.
Cancelling renewal does not normally create a refund for the current paid billing period. Any applicable statutory rights remain unaffected.
6. Cooling-Off Rights
Customers purchasing online may have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of entering into the contract.
Where a customer asks for tuition to begin during this period, they may be charged proportionately for services already provided. The cancellation right may end once a requested service has been fully performed, where legally permitted.
Nothing in these terms limits the customer’s statutory rights.
7. Lesson Cancellation and Rescheduling
Customers may cancel or rearrange a booked lesson without charge by providing at least 24 hours’ notice.
Where less than 24 hours’ notice is provided, or the student does not attend, the session will normally be treated as used and will not be refunded.
We may apply discretion in exceptional circumstances, but this is not guaranteed.
If a tutor cancels, we will offer an alternative time, replacement tutor, session credit or appropriate refund.
8. Tutor Matching and Changes
We select tutors based on the information available to us. We cannot guarantee that a particular tutor will always remain available.
We may offer or assign another suitably qualified tutor where the original tutor becomes unavailable or where a change is reasonably considered beneficial or necessary.
The customer will be informed before any permanent change wherever reasonably possible.
9. Online Lessons
Lessons are delivered through Google Meet or another online platform specified by us.
The customer is responsible for ensuring the student has:
-
a suitable device;
-
a reliable internet connection;
-
working audio and video where required;
-
necessary lesson materials; and
-
an appropriate environment for learning.
Time lost because of the student’s lateness, equipment or internet connection will not normally be replaced.
Where a significant technical problem is caused by the tutor or our systems, we will reasonably seek to rearrange, credit or refund the affected lesson time.
10. Students Under 18
Where the student is under 18, the customer confirms that they are the student’s parent or legal guardian, or have permission to arrange tuition.
The parent or guardian remains responsible for the student’s welfare and appropriate supervision during online lessons.
Students and tutors must communicate through approved channels. Lessons must not be recorded without the prior agreement of everyone involved.
11. Conduct and Safeguarding
Students, customers and tutors must communicate respectfully and behave appropriately.
We may suspend or end tuition where there is:
-
abusive, threatening or discriminatory behaviour;
-
repeated non-attendance;
-
inappropriate communication;
-
misuse of the online platform;
-
a safeguarding concern; or
-
serious or repeated breach of these terms.
Where tuition is ended without fault by the customer, prepaid sessions that cannot be delivered will be refunded.
12. Educational Standards and Results
Tutoring will be provided with reasonable care and skill.
However, we cannot guarantee a particular grade, examination result, school placement or level of progress. Outcomes depend on factors including attendance, engagement, independent practice and the student’s wider education.
Tutoring provides supplementary educational support and does not replace formal schooling.
13. Resources and Intellectual Property
Website content and resources supplied by MathsTeacher.co.uk remain our intellectual property or that of the relevant owner.
Resources are provided for the student’s personal educational use only. They must not be copied, sold, uploaded, published or distributed without written permission.
14. Privacy
We process personal information to manage enquiries, tutor matching, payments, bookings and tuition.
Relevant information may be shared with the assigned tutor where necessary to provide the service.
Further information is available in our Privacy Policy.
15. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed or for business losses suffered by a customer acting as a consumer.
We are not responsible for disruption caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, but we will take reasonable steps to minimise disruption and rearrange affected services where appropriate.
16. Complaints
Please raise any concern as soon as possible so that we have an opportunity to resolve it.
Complaints should be sent to:
Email: hello@mathsteacher.co.uk
Please include the customer’s name, student’s name, relevant lesson date and a description of the issue.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to our services, technology, prices or legal obligations.
Material changes affecting an existing subscription will be communicated in advance. The terms applicable when a booking was purchased will normally continue to apply to that booking.
18. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Customers living elsewhere in the United Kingdom retain any mandatory legal protections and rights to bring proceedings available to them under applicable law.
